Aaron Guo, President
As a volunteer through various community service organizations, Aaron often saw that young students, specifically in the elementary age range, were skipped over by various STEM programs and initiatives. For example, when students in high school wanted more in-depth learning in their STEM classes, they could always approach various clubs and honor societies at school; at the elementary school level, there was no such structure for help and growth in these areas. Because of this disparity, he decided to start Project AIMESS as a way to combat the lack of concentration on STEM in many schools. The focus it provided for younger students, especially in this crucial area was directly targeting this lack of STEM focus in many elementary schools, even allowing for further in-depth teaching in these areas. He is sure that the students taught and influenced through this initiative will become the leaders of STEM in tomorrow’s world. With this program, hopefully the students of tomorrow will really be able to show the world that the future for our country is bright.
Kayla Townsend, President
Kayla Townsend is a senior at Battlefield High School with a strong passion for science, technology, engineering, and math. Since the fourth grade, she has had a heavy interest in these fields and is very thankful for those who gave her the opportunities to explore and gain knowledge in them. She would like to be able to do the same for the children in her community by giving them an opportunity to discover that same interest and passion at an early age, so that they may create a path for themselves in their secondary schools to succeed in a STEM future. As technology advances daily, the demand for skilled employees in STEM careers is rapidly increasing, and Kayla wants to be sure that our local children will have the upper hand with extra skills and knowledge that will help them secure those jobs and succeed in them. She decided to work on Project AIMESS because of the advantages that it will provide to the children in the community. America's future depends on our children, and it is our responsibility to give them the opportunities and equip them with the skills they need to thrive.
